Image Tutorial, Halloween! | Honolulu Family Photographer, Sharleen Mey Photography
A little late in the day posting this image tutorial, but I am so glad it is up! I loved making the colors in the background of this image POP. The girls both wanted to be witches for Halloween last year, so Seth and I took them to Target and they picked out these two complementing costumes.
Fall didn’t last quite as long last year so the treeline behind the girls needed a little pick-me-up and my goal was to really bring out the orange because, hello, it’s October :).
P.S. – Can you believe that background is my old backyard area/behind my old house? I miss it, but wouldn’t trade it for the warm weather, sand, and sun.

Step 1: Basic edit and clone. Pretty simple, right? The real magic comes from brushwork and I’ll explain to you right after this set of images below.
Step 2: Here are the adjustments I made to bring out the color of the fall foliage and enhance the blues in the sky.
Step 3: Add a vignette, sharpen, and all done!
Have fun and stay safe this coming Halloween everyone <3.
